Saint Helena Estate Wedding
Photography Meg Messina
Katie and Clayton married at the picture-perfect St. Helena home of Katie’s close family friends. They wanted a relaxed, alfresco day which centered on their love of friends and family. The property lent itself perfectly to a summer garden theme. Marrying beneath a large white umbrella surrounded by greenery, guests were kept shaded from the sun with darling white parasols. For the reception, we used wooden Bentwood chairs and raw wood farm tables draped in airy white linens to bring about the relaxed and yet stylish feel. Along the tables, clusters of white votive candles were nestled against small posies of white and blush florals, including hydrangeas, dahlias and roses.

At dinner, guests sat down to a beautifully calligraphed menu, which doubled as their place card. The meal was served family style under bistro lights and paper lanterns strung between the trees overhead, in soft, romantic shades of white, blush and peach. We designed an enormous paper lantern, over five feet in diameter, to bring the same light, airy and fun feel of the dinner space to the wooden dance floor.

In a perfect moment reflecting the romantic mood of the entire day, the couple shared their first dance under a towering, one hundred year old redwood tree. Katie wore her great-grandmother’s delicately embroidered veil during the ceremony, and changed into her mother’s wedding dress for a playful sparkler exit beside her new husband.
