To kick off the start of summer, this family hosted a festive and colorful celebration outside. We designed a bright, inviting area where both kids and adults could both mingle and play, complete with a rainbow array of balloon garlands and silk ribbons that blew in the wind whenever guests walked through them. A touch of silver brought some extra sparkle to the tropical color palette, thanks to subtle silver sequins on Moroccan pillows and silver ribbon and balloons. Garlands of yellow strawflowers and red and magenta dahlias were placed around the tables and chairs, while bold bougainvillea arrangements ran up the pergola of the home.
Since the family already had several beautiful rattan lanterns hanging above their outdoor dining table, we added other rattan details that felt equally airy and light. We chose rattan daybeds and ottomans for guests to relax on, and sourced umbrellas from Morocco to create some additional shade. To keep things safe by the pool, we hired a lifeguard and handed out acrylic glassware for cocktails and other drinks. A bubble clown entertained the kids with larger-than-life bubbles, keeping them giggling all afternoon long — there’s nothing like children’s laughter in the background to tell you it’s been a fabulous event.
